Gregoria Cordero

May 25, 1925 — January 20, 2022

Fort Stockton, Texas

Gregoria "Goya" Ramos Cordero, 96, was made whole again as she entered into Glory and went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 20, 2022.
She was born in Fort Stockton, to Refugio Ramos and Ester Ramirez Ramos on May 25, 1925. She was the 3rd of 9 children, 7 of whom have preceded her in death.
In her 96 years, Gregoria saw many advancements in every aspect of life; recounting stories of watching her father arrive at the family dwelling by horseback and later, after his death, living in a one-room home with her mother and siblings. From very young, Gregoria worked hard and at a time when it was not a common practice, she proudly lived on her own and in her own apartment. One of her first places of employment was as a nanny with the Melba and Terry Carpenter family of Fort Stockton. Even in her later years, she loved recounting stories of her time with them.
Gregoria married Joe M. "Sonny" Cordero, Jr. on December 1, 1949. Together they raised their three children in Fort Stockton. She was an excellent cook, and a self-taught seamstress who made many of her own clothes. She loved birds, nature and gardening. Her life lessons will always be cherished by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Gregoria will be most remembered for her fierce love and devotion to God and family.
As dementia slowly robbed her of her short-term memory, Gregoria's ability to remember so much of her life from before was a source of joy to her children.
Gregoria leaves behind to mourn her passing, daughters Gloria Diana Cowin of Round Rock and Rosie Garcia and fiancé Camilo
Palacios of Midland, granddaughter Brandi and Jerry Moore of
Round Rock, grandsons Joey and Cassy Garcia of Midland,
Christopher and Ana Garcia of Ft. Worth, and Nathan Garcia of Midland, five great grandchildren, one sister, Esperanza Jimenez of Odessa and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by both parents, Ester and Refugio Ramos, her husband, Joe M. Cordero, Jr.,her beloved son whom she had just lost last week, Johnny Cordero, and grandson, Patrick Paul Dupré.
