Herminia Santiago

December 3, 1956 — July 6, 2021

On July the 6th 2021, Herminia "Minnie" Santiago was received into the loving arms of her merciful Lord. She survived by her daughter Alexandra Amanda Flores Rosas and three grandchildren Allessandra, Ayla and Juan Carlos Rosas. Her siblings
Celia "Sally" Couder and husband Rogelio of El Paso, Texas; Ismael "Bobby" Santiago of Baytown, Texas; Ester Santiago of Van Horn, Texas; Margarita Santiago Mahlstedt and husband Douglas of El Paso, Texas; Raul Santiago Jr. and wife Linda of McAllen, Texas; Velia Aguilar of Van Horn, Texas; Martin Santiago and wife Sonya of Midland, Texas; Leticia Maria Harper and husband Joe of Mertzon, Texas; Carlos Santiago of San Juan, Texas; and Minerva Santiago Alvarado of Van Horn, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents Raul Jimenez Santiago and Josefa Canas Santiago.

Minnie was born on December 3rd, 1956, in Van Horn, Texas where she lived and graduated High School. She attended Sul Ross State University where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Education. Minnie taught at Ector County Independent School District in Odessa, Texas for 12 years and further continued teaching at the Ft. Stockton Independent School District for 17 years where she later celebrated her Retirement. Minnie was currently working for the Pecos County Precinct 2 as an administrative assistant where she was often the first smiling face to greet everyone as they walked through the door.

It was well known that every morning her special list of family and friends would receive a text containing daily scripture from a faithful Herminia. Minnie loved life as a Devout Catholic always praying for her loved ones and attending church services with her grandchildren in tow. Minnie was a woman of strong faith and hope always wearing her religious medallions and obtaining blessed pieces to give to others in their moments of joy and need. She was a catechist for Our Lady of Guadalupe parishes where she further taught and was loved by all her students and congregation.

"Whatever challenges come your way in life, you are never alone; Jesus is at your side. He is your friend and your teacher." John 3:16-21

Services will be as follows:
Vigil, Rosary & Candlelight Memorial held on Thursday July 15, 2021, at 7pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe perish (downtown campus/St. Joseph) 403 S. Main Ft. Stockton, Texas. 79735.
Funeral mass to be held on Friday July 16, 2021, at 1pm at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 308 Almond St. Van Horn, Texas. 79855.
Right of Committal to be held in Van Horn Cemetery but pending a later date.
