Dorothy was born on November 27, 1925, to Willie and Susie Walker of Bangs, Texas where she was raised, the second to youngest of 8 children. They lived a simple, but fulfilling country life in Bangs of which she later told numerous stories to her children and grandchildren of happy times there. Dorothy later went to Houston Business College and also began writing letters in December of 1943 to Victor Englert while he was serving in World War II. Their love began in these precious letters and they were married on August 11, 1945, shortly after Victor completed his service in the United States Army Air Corps. They were sweethearts for 63 & ½ years.

Victor and Dorothy made their first home in San Angelo where he worked for Holland Jewelry Company as an engraver, making belt buckles and spur clips, and she worked at Goodfellow Air Force Base of San Angelo. In February of 1951, they moved to Eldorado to try ranching. Due to a severe drought that lasted from that time to the fall of 1956, they moved to Fort Stockton, where he worked as a carpenter and building contractor until the late 70s when he retired. Dorothy worked at the Pecos County Tax office in Fort Stockton, as Deputy Tax Collector, where she retired. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, and active member of the community (Garden Club, Pink Lady Hospital Auxiliary) and member of Fort Stockton Church of Christ. She was also a beloved sister, aunt, granny & grandma who was always serving her family and deeply loved and enjoyed all of the grandchildren and great grandchildren in her life. She enjoyed music, especially singing alto alongside her family, at church, or family reunions! She took great pride in all that her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren accomplished. She will be so missed by those awaiting this side of heaven to see her again.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Victor Edmond Englert; son, Buel William (Bill) Englert; brothers: Rutledge Willy Walker and Ira W. Walker; Sisters: Martha Jane Buske, Edna Modene White, Mattie Lee Alley, and Odessa Juanice Clark.

Dorothy is survived by: her son, Jerry Lee Englert, and wife, Linda of Snyder, Tx, 5 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, and sister, Betty Jo Pierce of Bangs, Tx.
