Anita Acosta

On March 7th, 2023, at the age of 90, Anita R. Acosta passed away peacefully surrounded by family.  Anita was a loving mother to a son and three daughters, but throughout her life was surrounded by many children, including her grandchildren and the children she babysat for. She was loved immensely by all her babies.

Anita was a fabulous baker and cook.  We remember her cinnamon rolls, lemon meringue pies and her unforgettable mouthwatering biscochos. She was also well known for making the very best asaderos.  Anita had what many called her magic bowl.  It did not matter if there were 4 or 10 people, everyone ate until they were full.

Anita treasured her children’s education and served as a room mother. She would lovingly sit at the dinner table helping her children do homework and prepare for exams. Being a spiritual woman, she was very involved in her church and, more importantly, made sure that her children and grandchildren received their sacraments

Anita is survived by her children, Roy Acosta, Cruz Rodriguez, Esther Chavez and Lora Olivas.  Her grandchildren, Brenda Burnett, Nacole Killian, Matthew Yant, Erica Hernandez, Morgan Daily, LRoy Acosta, Crystal Uris, Nanca Rodriguez, Rudy Allison Rodriguez, Lori Rodriguez, Kori Chavez, Rico Chavez, Brandie Torres, Megan Olivas and 30 Great-grandchildren.

Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Alpidio Acosta, her grandma- Guelita Maria and Myrna Shea her granddaughter.

There will be a visitation Friday, March 10, 2023, from 1:00PM – 6:00PM at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend 301 N. Main St. Fort Stockton, Texas 79735.  There will be a rosary recited at 7:00PM also at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend.  Funeral mass will be Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 10:00AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 300 N. Ave. C Marathon, Texas 79842.  Internment to follow funeral mass at Marathon Cemetery.
