Amelia Ramirez

July 17, 1931 — September 30, 2020

If you are about to throw away the seed to your avocado, stop and consider Ameila Ramirez, known to some as “Molly” or the “My Pitbull”. She entered into eternal life on Monday September 30, 2020.

Her spirit is carried on by her 6 children, 23 grandchildren, 3 surviving siblings and an extended family of friends from many walks of life. Serving others and feeding people was something she loved to do. She retired as a cook, serving the children of Iraan for many years. Later in life she spent her time volunteering at the local food bank and would make small gift bags for residents in the nursing home. We learned some very valuable lessons from Amelia throughout her 89 years, among them: The best movies to watch involve cowboys and Indians. Don’t get in front of the TV while grandma is watching her Novela. It’s not good manners to pick at food in the pan while it’s still cooking. Also: If you say you are going to do something, then do it. She had a smile bigger than Texas and if you spent 5 minutes with her, you were guaranteed a laugh. She is survived by her children and grandchildren, who’s photos decorated every corner of her home: Daughter-in-law Martha (children Sonia); Juan (wife Mary, children Naomi, Gabriel); ; Alonzo (wife Gloria, children PJ, Greg, Maritza, Myra); Adam (wife Paige, children Monica, Savannah, Sierra, Danielle, and Camillie); Pete (children Vincent and Matthew); Ruben (wife Adel, children Ali, Rafael, Alexsis and Edward); Ray (wife Chere, children Courtney, Colton and Levi); 3 siblings; and many nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten. She is preceded in death by her husband Conrado Subia Ramirez, her son Abel Ramirez, her granddaughter Adrianna, her grandson Alfred Garcia III, and 7 siblings. Friends (and strangers she would love to have met) can visit with her family at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend on Monday, October 5, 2020 form 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Due to Covid-19 restrictions visitation at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend has limited occupancy.
