Verna Elkins

Verna Lee Elkins of Fort Stockton passed away Friday May 27, 2016, in Fort Stockton at the age of 85 years. Verna was born on June 14, 1930, to James and Ethel Mize in Grandfield, Oklahoma. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and the Eastern Star for fifty years. She loved her family and friends.
Verna is survived by her second husband, Guy Elkins; her children, Martin Mayse of Houston, David Mayse and his wife Cindy of Houston, Jeannie Northcut and her husband Rick of Fort Stockton, Wayne Elkins of Fort Stockton, Glenda Levell and her husband James of San Angelo; her grandchildren, Marty, Cody, Allen, Julie, Mikey, Taylor, Terah, Natalie, Molly, Christopher; nine great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren; her sister, Gustina Cash of Burkburnett; her brothers, Billy Mize of Burkburnett, Earnest Mize of Bowie.
Verna is preceded in death by her parent, James and Ethel Mize; her first husband, Roy Mayse; her daughter, Judy Puckett; her grandchild, Sonny.
Visitation will be on Monday, May 30th, 2016, from 6-8pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Stockton, Texas. Funeral service will begin at 10:30am on Tuesday 31st, 2016, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Fort Stockton, Texas. In lieu of flowers, Donations can be sent to Emmanuel Baptist church at P.O.
