Peggie Yeary

January 21, 1934 — November 8, 2025

Peggie Gene Sharp Yeary passed from this life with family and friends by her side, peacefully and from natural causes, and was finally reunited with our dad on Saturday November 8, 2025, in Fort Stockton, Texas. She had completed 91 years on this earth, born in Sonora, Texas on January 21, 1934, to Jonnie Mae Adams and Quinn Milton Sharp. Peggie was the younger sibling to her sister, Joyce Sharp Copeland, who left this earth February 27, 2023. Peggie spent her younger years in Crane, Texas and graduated from Crane High School in 1952. She went on to Sul Ross State University to graduate with a double major in Biology and Education. Peggie finished out her formal education when she taught school by day and commuted to Alpine at night to obtain a Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from Sul Ross State University.

Peggie met the love of her life, William (Bill) Newton Yeary, while they were both attending Sul Ross State University. Bill and Peggie were married on their graduation day, May 20, 1956. After a brief adventure in Fort Collins, Colorado, Bill and Peggie moved to Fort Stockton and ultimately raised their 5 children, Billy, Cliff, Beverly, Quinnetta, and Jonette.

Peggie was an elementary school teacher for 30 years in Fort Stockton, teaching English and Reading, and also taught adult education classes to English learners while utilizing her second language, Spanish. In the process, she educated between 2500-3000 children and adults. Peggie was always proud to share, "If the children learned anything in my class, they learned manners".

Peggie loved to travel and took many trips, mostly to Fort Davis in the Winnebago with Bill. She was happiest when her children, grand, great and fur children, were around. Her travels encompassed many states and countries, including Alaska, Honduras, Scotland, England, Ireland, France, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Italy. She and Bill attended many sports, choir, band, and other countless activities for their children, grandchildren and people they loved.

Peggie was preceded in death by her husband Bill (79) with 54 years of marriage, son Billy (36), sister Joyce Copeland and brother-in-law Bob, parents Quinn and Jonnie Sharp, great grandson Bradley Sandberg (4), nieces Julia Copeland and Penny Phillips, and nephews Craig Phillips, Thad Phillips, and Frank Phillips.

Peggie is survived by 4 of her children, Cliff Yeary and Angie Phoenix of Sublette, Kansas, Beverly and Brian Olsen of Fort Stockton, Quinnetta Yeary and Kelley Lands of Red Rock, Texas, and Jonette Jeter of San Angelo, Texas, her nieces Cindy Carthel and Don, Aliene Theis and John, and Kathy Mullinax, her grandchildren Whitney Lowther and Kaveh Arabfakhry, Dr. Shelbey Bauman and Dan, Travis Olsen, Meghan Sandberg and Ian, and Sam Jeter and great grandchildren Cameron Bauman, Lily and Daisy Sandberg, her childhood and best friend Jessie Adams, other extended family, and lastly, her fur children Harry and Penny.

Peggie struggled with dementia and her last years were made tolerable by the constant care given by her daughters and her long-time care giver and friend, Della Rodriguez. Della will always hold a special place in our hearts and is now a part of our family.

Peggie was generous, almost to a fault, and would have given her last dollar or last meal to those in need. She was always trying to feed people, no matter what time of day or night, so it is with this in mind that the family asks, in lieu of flowers, to please donate any type of contribution you would like to make in her name, to the Food Bank/Pantry of your choice.
