Viewing will be on Monday, August 24, 2026 from 4:00pm to 9:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm at St. James Catholic Church in Sanderson, Texas.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at 11:00am at St. James Catholic Church with burial to follow at Santa Rita Catholic Church.

Paula Montalvo, 65, of Sanderson, Texas passed away on August 20th, after a brave battle with diabetes. Paula was born in Sanderson, Tx to Manuel and Manuela Castro on October 16, 1960. She married Richard Montalvo on January 1, 1983 where they built a home filled with warmth, love, and laughter on Mansfield street; a home that always seemed to have room for one more plate at the table (often three or more) any day of the week. Paula was a dedicated mother of five children and ten grandchildren whom she loved tremendously. She worked for 24 years as a custodian at Terrell County ISD where she always had a smile on her face and was always willing to lend a hand or two. Above all, Paula’s greatest joy was her family. She was a mother and aunt who led by example. She taught her children that hard work was its own reward and the most important thing you could do was to remain humble, selfless and be a fighter. Paula was the light at the end of the tunnel . . She was the first person they called with good news and the first person they called when things fell apart.  She is survived by her loving husband Richard of 43 years, her pride and joy children Raymond, Myleah, Richard Jr. (wife Kristina), Trisha and Robert and by the ones who completely took her heart: her grandchildren- Nick Bennet, Gabriel Castro, Annaleigh Castro, Raymond Castro Jr, Ryland Castro, Andrew Cavender, Isaiah Stratton, Ethan Stratton, Kristian Montalvo, and Mya Montalvo plus many siblings; siblings-in laws, nieces and nephews.  Paula is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Manuela Castro, in-laws, Espiridion and Elvira Montalvo, siblings- Pepper Castro, Mary Fuentes, Gregoria Barron, Carlos Castro, sister in laws- Carmela Montalvo and Catalina Jimenez.  Pallbearers will be her beloved grandsons and nephews. The family would like to extend a big thank you to all those who have reached out, extended a hand to help, financially donated and also for the many of you who kept her in your thoughts and prayers.
