Oscar Benavides, a beloved construction superintendent, passed away on June 25, 2025, in Fort Stockton, Texas, at the age of 82. Born on January 28, 1943, in Mexico, Oscar's journey through life was one marked by hard work, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Those who knew Oscar will remember him as charming "lady's," who brought warmth and joy into every room he entered. His infectious personality and love for socializing made him the life of every gathering, where stories of his adventures and humor would captivate all present. His zest for life extended beyond mere banter. He knew no stranger and would give the shirt off his back.
Oscar was also an incredibly devoted father and grandfather. He cherished his daughters, Oliva, Martha and Myra offering them his unwavering support and love throughout their lives. His legacy continues through his treasured grandchildren: Erica Farmer, Jefferey Benavides, Nancy Lewis, Adrian Colby Terrazas, Jonathan Caleb Terrazas, Alexander Cade Terrazas, Cristoval Andres Urias, and Cristian Ivan Urias. Each of them carries a piece of his spirit, embodying his values of kindness, strength, and the importance of family. He was a protective figure in their lives, always ensuring they felt safe and supported as they navigated the world.
Oscar is preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Maria Del Socorro Benavides, who no doubt instilled in him the principles he carried into adulthood. Their memory lives on in him and through the love he imparted to his children and grandchildren. Daughters, Sonya and Amanda Benavides.
The community is invited to gather in remembrance of Oscar, sharing in the love and laughter that he so freely gave. Visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend in Fort Stockton, Texas, on June 26, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM. A Service will be celebrated the next day, June 27, at 10:00 AM, with burial to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
Oscar Benavides leaves behind a legacy filled with love, humor, and dedication. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
