Maria Villa De La Cruz, a beloved caregiver and cherished member of the Fort Stockton community, passed away on April 10, 2026, at the age of 52. Born on August 18, 1973, in Alpine, Texas, Maria dedicated her life to loving and supporting those around her, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Maria was a devoted wife to her husband David De La Cruz and a proud mother to her sons, Jesus Manuel De La Cruz and David De La Cruz Jr. She also found immeasurable joy in her role as a grandmother to Ambrose De La Cruz, who was truly the apple of her eye. Maria's love for her family extended to her mother, Socorro Villa, and her siblings, Jesus "Chippy" Villa, Carol Garcia, and Marta Villa. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Manuel Villa.
Throughout her life, Maria embodied selflessness, always putting others before herself and offering help to anyone in need. Her father's lesson of treating everyone like family instilled in her a profound compassion and kindness. Maria's passion for caring for children shone brightly in her work at the daycare, where she relished being surrounded by the laughter and joy of the little ones.
Maria's creative spirit flourished through her love of arts and crafts. She delighted in making wreaths and special gifts for her grandson, and she shared her fascination with nature, especially her love for squirrels and Monarch butterflies. The smell of fresh rain brought her peace, reminding her of nature's beauty.
A public viewing will be held in celebration of Maria's life at the Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend Chapel on April 18, 2026, at 2:00 PM, with a family viewing preceding it at 1:00 PM. Following the viewing, Maria will be cremated, honored for the warmth and love she brought into the lives of others.
In remembering Maria, we celebrate a life of love, compassion, and creativity. Her spirit will continue to inspire us as we carry her memory in our hearts. Let us gather to honor her legacy and the joy she shared with the world.
