Lilia “Lilly” Gonzalez, 62, of Fort Stockton, Texas passed away on February 11, 2023 in Dallas, Texas.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend, 301 N. Main Street, Fort Stockton, Texas. Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 18, 2023, at People Church of Fort Stockton with burial to follow at East Hill Cemetery. Pastor Victor Lopez of People Church will be officiating.
Lilly was born in Fabens, Texas to Antonio and Maria Salas on May 2, 1960. She grew up and attended school in El Paso, Texas before later moving to Fort Stockton, Texas where she made a home and raised her family. She earned her bachelor's degree from Sul Ross University. She married Isidoro Gonzalez, Jr. in Fort Stockton, Texas on September 6, 2008.
Lilly was a shining example of what it meant to have the heart of a servant. She spent the last two decades of her working life as a counselor for the Pecos County Probation Department. Lilly has been a leader and mentor in the Pecos County Toastmasters since 2003. During her time, she served in multiple officer roles including President, Vice President of Education, Vice President of Public Relations, and Secretary. Lilly held the title of Advanced Communicator Silver and Advanced Leadership Bronze Speaker. Lilly was a longstanding member of People Church in Fort Stockton, Texas where she served as a greeter and on the coffee shop team. Lilly was always very involved in the lives of her children while they were growing up and loved serving as a den mother while her sons were in Cub Scouts. Lilly was a wonderful friend to so many people in the community and has touched countless lives. She will be dearly missed by all she befriended and served.
Lilly is preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Maria Salas.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her husband, Isidoro Gonzalez, Jr. of Fort Stockton, Texas; children Jonathan Carreon and wife Kendra of Hutto, Texas; Daniel Carreon and wife Reba of Fort Stockton, Texas; grandchildren, Jackson, Maximus, Austin, Alyviah, Addison and Madilyn; and siblings Eduardo Salas and David Salas, both of El Paso, Texas.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Pecos Memorial Hospital, Patterson Regional Medical Center in Kerrville, Texas and Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Dallas, Texas for their compassionate care of our beloved Lilly during the final weeks of her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be directed to People Church of Fort Stockton, Texas.
