FORT STOCKTON, Texas – Leda Nell Dulaney, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed into the arms of Jesus on August 30, 2026, following a long illness.

On September 16, 1945, in Decatur, Texas, Leda Nell and her identical twin sister, Veda Dell, were born to their parents, Hazel and Robert Grue. Growing up as children of an always moving and relocating oilfield worker, Leda and Veda were particularly close to one another.

After spending many years as a rancher’s wife and raising four children, Leda enrolled in Midland College’s Vocational Nursing Program. In August of 1995, at the age of 49, she completed the nursing degree — proving that one is never too old to try something new! She then worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (“LVN”) for the State of Texas’ prison system until her retirement.

Leda enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidery and anything to do with a needle and thread! These crafts always turned into beautiful works of art in her talented hands. Additionally, Leda was an excellent ‘country cook’, as her giant yeast rolls that were ‘thrown together’ without a recipe would melt in your mouth, as would her chicken fried steak with cream gravy and peach cobbler!

In 1989, Leda packed up her dog, Spike, into her pickup and embarked on the adventure of a lifetime, moving to Alaska for almost three years. She whole-heartedly embraced the amazing landscape, wildlife, food, dancing, and the friendly people of Anchorage, Alaska, and had the time of her life!

Leda is survived by three children, daughter, Tonya Akeley (husband, Chuck) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; son, Raymond ‘Skeeter’ Dulaney (wife, Penny) of Ft. Stockton, Texas; and son, John Dee Dulaney (wife, Jackie) of Nixa Missouri. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Courtnie Gattis nee Dulaney (husband, Chase); Rachael Leigh Akeley, Raymond ‘Ray’ Dulaney, Andrea ‘Andi’ Brown nee: Dulaney (husband, Cory), Emily Cooper nee Dulaney (husband, Matthew), Emily Pickens, Kyler Koetter ( wife, Haley), and Kaleb Koetter. Leda’s great grandchildren include Rankin Gattis, Rozyn Gattis, Rhomes Gattis, Rucker Gattis, Josie Cooper, Tinlee Pickens, Kash Koetter, Cory Brown and Bailee Brown.

Leda was preceded in death by her husband Bob Robertson, her son, William ‘Dogie’ Dulaney, her twin sister, Veda Walker, her brother, Bobby Grue, and her mother, Hazel Wood.

The family is hosting a Celebration of Life and homecoming at the First Baptist Church, 401 N. Gillis, Ft. Stockton, Texas, on October 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM. In memory of Leda, and in lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for the Pecos County Memorial Hospital Home Health and Hospice, 387 W. IH-10, Ft. Stockton, Texas, 79735.

There will be no interment ceremony.
