Kay A. Magee

July 12, 1938 — June 15, 2026

Fort Stockton

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and cherished friend to so many peacefully passed away at home on June 15, 2026. She is survived by sisters Elaine and Barbara; sons Randy, Brett, and Michael (Kelly); grandchildren Kaci, Kayla (Chris), and Dylan; and great-granddaughters Lylah and Camila.

Kay was born July 12, 1938, in Brady, Texas, to Son and Kitty Bratton. She attended school in Rochelle, Texas.

Her enduring love for West Texas began in Balmorhea, where she raised her three sons. Her deep empathy and caring for others inspired her to become a registered nurse. In 1974, she and her boys moved to Fort Stockton, where she worked at Pecos County Memorial Hospital until her retirement. Through her many years of nursing, she touched the lives of many people in Fort Stockton and beyond. She made many lifelong friendships from her days at the hospital. Many of those same people visited and shared stories and laughs up until the last few days of her life. She was a warrior for those she loved, and she did whatever she could to make sure all people were respected, protected, and heard. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and humor that impacted generations of family and friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Patty, Delilah, Yolanda, Michelle, and all of her amazing caregivers from PCMH Hospice.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 27, 2026. As per her wishes, her ashes will be buried in the Balmorhea Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kay's name to Grand Companions Humane Society, 701 Compromise Street, Fort Davis, Texas 78734
