On Saturday, September 24, 2022, Jose L. Milan, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 83.
Jose was born on April 25, 1939 in Terlingua, TX to Martin and Nicanora Milan. He moved to Fort Stockton in 1950. In 1961, he joined the U.S. Army and on May 10, 1975, he married Elvia Arellano Milan. They raised two sons, Jose Martin and Alberto.
Jose was extremely proud of his service to his country and would share stories of his world travels with his family. Jose was a devoted husband and father, and was guided by his faith. He worked hard to provide for his family and passed this value onto his children. He was supportive of his children’s endeavors and created a happy life in Fort Stockton for his entire family. He made several good friends through the years and cherished all the moments he was able to spend with them.
Jose was preceded in death by his father, Martin Milan, his mother Nicanora Milan, and his sister Antonia Milan and brothers Alberto, Cornelio, and Silverio Milan. He is survived by his wife Elvia, his sons Jose Martin and Alberto Milan, his daughter-in-law Krista Milan, his two granddaughters Maya and Adriana Milan, his sister Maria Ortega, and his niece and nephews, and several cousins. The viewing will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by a rosary prayer at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in his honor.
