Jose Pena Granado of Fort Stockton passed away Tuesday, January 26th, 2016, at the age of 89 years. He was born May 26, 1926, in Fort Stockton, TX to Macedonio and Cleofas Granado. He married Paulita Villalba on September 3, 1944. He was also drafted in 1944 and served in the U.S. Army in Germany during WWII in a tank battalion. When returning home from the war, he was employed with Santa Fe Railroad as a laborer until his retirement in 1979. Since his retirement, he loved to garden and work outside. He was a faithful member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and spent many hours reading the Bible.
Jose is survived by his wife Paulita Villalba; his daughters, Rosalinda G. Herrera of Fort Stockton, TX and Maricela Granado of Bryan, TX; his son, Joe Granado of Fort Stockton, TX; his beloved five grandchildren, Yvonne Gonzalez, Paula Johnson, Angela Lujan, Joe-Daniel and Alaina Granado; his five great-grandchildren and his two great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Maria Vela of Galveston; his brother, Frank Granado of Fort Stockton, TX.
Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Macedonio and Cleofas Granado; his son, Danny Granado; his brothers, Fred, Nino, and Carlos Granado; his sisters, Ilda (Poncha) Gates and Dora Terrazas.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 28th, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday, January 29th, 2016, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.at Heritage Funeral Home in downtown Fort Stockton. Rosary will be recited on Friday night at 7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in downtown Fort Stockton. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday morning, January 30, 2016, beginning at 10 a.m. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Stockton. Burial will follow at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery.
