Joan (Joann) Marie Hargreaves Lemons, 92, of Fort Stockton, TX passed peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2026, surrounded by family in Fort Stockton, TX.

Joann was born in Choate, TX to W. L. and Eddelene Marshall Hargreaves on June 16, 1934. She went to school in La Pryor, TX. She married Arvin Lyndal Lemons on March 28, 1953, in La Pryor, TX. Joann worked for the Fort Stockton Independent School District in the cafeteria system from 1967 – 1993 and Alamo Grocery Store for 14 years until she retired.

Joann loved to fish with her husband and friends at the High Bridge on the Pecos River at Comstock, loved to work in her lawn at her home, watch old game shows and all types of sporting events on tv.

She is proceeded in death by her parents and husband. Her brothers, W. L. Hargreaves, Jr., Tommy Ed Hargreaves, sisters, Nancy Jane Wernli, Zelda Mae Atkinson and Frances Selena Ritchie.

Joann is survived by her sons, Clif Lemons (Teresa), Mike Lemons (Tara) of Fort Stockton, daughter’s, Dana Bustamante (Ruben) of Midland, Laura Verette (Sammy) of Pleasanton, TX. Grandchildren, LaShawn Lemons, Courtney Lemons, Kelli Trant (Jason), Kodi Lemons, Blake Bowman, Courtney Woody (Lance), Russell Garvin, Kyle Garvin, Bryan Bustamante, Matthew Bustamante (Lauren), Joshua Verette (Kaitlyn), Tyler Verette, Tasha Spann (Greg), Michele Kelly, Renee’ Verette (Jeremy), eighteen great children and two great-great children. Her sister, Wanda Wagner (Richard), Keneth & Betty Lemons (brother-in-law & sister-in-law), and Joy Robinson (sister-in-law)

Pallbearers will be Russell Garvin, Kyle Garvin, Joshua Verette, Tyler Verette, Kodi Lemons, and Jason Trant.

Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, August 28, 2026, at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend in Fort Stockton, TX.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00, Saturday, August 29, 2026, at The First Baptist Church of Fort Stockton, TX with Brother Mike Shupp officiating. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery.

The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the nursing and hospice staff at Focus Care Nursing Home for their care and compassion in taking care of Mom.

Arrangements are under the care of Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend.
