Jesusita Gonzales Benavides born September 12, 1922, entered into eternal rest on June 8th, 2015 in San Antonio, Texas. Jesusita was born in Fort Stockton, Texas where she lived until 2008 when her husband passed away. She moved to San Antonio, Texas to live with her son until her passing. Jesusita is preceded in death by her 10 siblings, her husband Antonio S. Benavides, her son Antonio Eduardo and granddaughter Ana Marie Benavides. She is survived by her sons Orlando (Rachel) and Gilrey (Belinda) Benavides. Her grandchildren are Michael and Monica Benavides, Jessica Sifuentes, Geoffrey Powell, Joseph, Gabriel, and Benjamin Benavides. Her great grandchildren are Jacqueline, Jeannette, and Jason Benavides, Leyla and Maya Sifuentes, Isabel, Isidra, and Colton Powell.
While raising her three sons, Jesusita was a homemaker and worked part-time selling Avon and at Winkler's Department Store. Once her children were grown, she and her late husband followed their true passion which was serving the church and community. Jesusita and Antonio attended many Catholic Retreats, conducted marriage counseling in their home, participated in the choir and prepared meals after funerals within the community. Her home was always open to anyone who needed a hot meal or in need of spiritual guidance.
Jesusita was a voracious reader of Catholic books and literature. She donated to various Catholic organizations whether she could afford it or not. Anyone who engaged in conversation was usually regarded with subscription to a Catholic publication. Her good-byes were always a blessing with a special devotion for the particular person followed by the sign of the cross.
Viewing and visitation will be at Heritage Funeral Home, 301N. Main Street, Fort Stockton, Texas from 11 am to 7 pm. Rosary will be at the funeral home chapel at 7 pm on June 12, 2015. Funeral mass will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 401 S. Main at 10:00 am, followed by interment at St. Joseph's Cemetary in Fort Stockton, Texas.
