Ida Ruiz was born on April 14, 1927, in Fort Stockton, Texas, to Crisostomo Duarte and Eulogia Duarte. She passed away on April 1, 2026.
She married Seledonio Ruiz in 1944, and together they built a life rooted in hard work, strong faith, and deep love for family.
Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Seledonio Ruiz; her daughter, Agapita Ruiz; her parents; her brother, Jesus Maria Duarte; and her sisters, Oralia Ruiz and Emma Gonzales.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Sandy Thompson, Annabel Grone, and Leonel Ruiz; and her niece, Mary Ruiz Martinez, along with her extended family and all who were blessed to know her.
After their marriage, Ida and her husband moved to Leon Farms in Pecos County, where they worked in the farming community. They later relocated to Cotton Center, Texas, where Ida worked in the school district’s food service department. In 1972, she returned to Fort Stockton and began working in the housekeeping department at Pecos County Hospital alongside her sisters. She remained there until her retirement at the age of 65.
Ida was a woman of strong faith who trusted in God throughout her life. Her faith guided her actions, strengthened her in difficult times, and was reflected in the love and kindness she showed to others.
Ida found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, creating lasting memories through her love, care, and devotion. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
