Ernesto O. Velasquez Jr. of Fort Stockton passed away Thursday July 6th, 2017, in Fort Stockton at the age of 86 years. Ernesto was born on January 19th, 1931, to Ernesto Velasquez Sr. and Margarita Ornelas Velasquez in Fort Stockton, Texas.
Ernesto was a butcher for 35 years at Safeway and 12 years at Pecos County State Bank. After he retired from Safeway, he opened his own Meat Market. He enjoyed playing golf, yardwork, and family vacations. He also enjoyed all our family gathering and cooking Barbeque for the family.
Ernesto is survived by his sons, Raymond Velasquez and wife Linda Velasquez of Fort Stockton, Joel Velasquez of Irving; his daughters, Lori Gonzales and husband Richard Gonzales of Fort Stockton, Cynthia Primera and husband Bobby Primera of Houston; his brothers, Matias Velasquez of Fort Stockton, Oscar Velasquez; his sister, Rosa Ruiz of Fulton, IL; his grandchildren, Stephanie Gonzales, Annika Gonzales, Sophia Primera, Jessica Vidal, Christopher Velasquez, Kevin Velasquez, Stephen Velasquez, Priscilla Gomez, David Gomez, Beni Joe Gomez; his nine great grandchildren; and his twelve great-great grandchildren.
Ernesto is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Maria Castelo Velasquez; his daughter, Eufemia Gomez; his brother, Augustine Velasquez; his sisters, Sylvia Gonzales, Esther Gonzales.
Visitation will be on Sunday, July 9th, 2017, from 11-7pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Stockton, Texas. Rosary will begin at 7pm. Funeral service will be on Monday, July 10th, 2017, beginning at 10:30am at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Stockton, Texas. Burial will follow at the Catholic Cemetery, Fort Stockton, Texas.
