Elvira Subia Ramirez, 88, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, in San Angelo, Texas.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend in Fort Stockton, Texas, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery.

Elvira was born on March 13, 1938, in Fort Stockton, Texas, to Nieves Subia and Petra Martinez Subia. She attended Fort Stockton High School and later married Frank Ramirez. During their years together, they welcomed two children, Gilbert and Linda, who remained the pride and joy of her life.

Elvira dedicated more than thirty years of her life to the nursing profession as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). Her compassionate care and commitment to serving others led her to work at Pecos County Memorial Hospital, Medical Center Hospital, Midland Memorial Hospital, Shannon Medical Center, and ultimately St. John’s Hospital in San Angelo, where she retired. Nursing was more than a career for Elvira—it was a calling. She found great fulfillment in caring for her patients and touched countless lives through her dedication, professionalism, and commitment to others.

Elvira was preceded in death by her father, Nieves Subia; her mother, Petra Martinez Subia; and her brother, Albert Subia.

She is survived by her son, Gilbert Ramirez; her daughter, Linda Ramirez; her sister, Mary Urias; her brother, Margarito Subia; her grandchildren, Jacob Ramirez, Amanda Lopez, Joshua Ramirez, and Lara Jones; her great-grandchildren, Caleb, Ector, Jeremiah, Jackson, and Patrick; and her great-great-grandson, Greyson. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Serving as pallbearers are Jacob Ramirez, Joshua Ramirez, Mando Subia, Dominique Subia, Aiden Urias, and Gabriel Urias.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend, Shannon Medical Center, Hospice of San Angelo, and Cedar Manor of San Angelo for the compassionate care, kindness, and support shown to our beloved mother during her final days.

Elvira leaves behind a legacy of strength, perseverance, service, and devotion to her family. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she loved and in the many lives she touched throughout her years of caring for others. She will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever cherished.
