Beth Ivy, 76, of Fort Stockton, Texas passed away on February 25, 2023, in San Angelo, Texas.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at First United Methodist Church in Fort Stockton, Texas with Ed Williamson officiating.  Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend in Fort Stockton.

Beth was born in Canyon, Texas to Dr. Robert and Mamie Jarrett on October 29, 1946.  She went to high school in Canyon and met her best friend and the love of her life, Jim, when she was at Trinity University in San Antonio.  Jim and Beth were married in Canyon, Texas on December 21, 1968.  She was a dedicated and loving teacher for 37 years.  She taught 6th grade math when she first started teaching but soon found her passion when she moved to elementary school working with special education students.  She received several awards in education but her proudest accomplishment in the classroom was watching the success of her students as they moved on to intermediate school, middle school, high school and beyond. After retiring from education, Beth, who was not one to be idle, went to work alongside Jim at Wallace Lumber Company where she kept him organized by taking care of the finances and books at the lumber yard.  She was very active in the First United Methodist Church and worked with the Methodist Youth Foundation (MYF) as a sponsor, served on several church boards and played in the church bell group.  Beth was a girl scout leader, volunteered countless hours during water carnival season and ran everything behind the scenes when her husband Jim announced for the Fort Stockton Panthers and MC’d at many Water Carnivals.

Beth is preceded in death by her mother and father Dr. Robert and Mamie Jarrett, her sister Ann Rheinlander, and her brother, Pat Jarrett.

She is survived by her spouse Jim Ivy, her daughter Susan and husband Josh Kohl, her daughter Jeanna Martinez and her daughter Jamie and husband Carlos Vazquez.  Her sister, Jane Buskirk. Her 8 grandchildren; Lauren Martinez, Ivy Kohl, EJ Vazquez, Edward Martinez, Michael Martinez, Gabriel Kohl, Wallace Vazquez and Carla Vazquez.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Beth Ivy Educational Scholarship.  The family will give a scholarship to a graduating senior from Fort Stockton High School who has plans to go into the education field.  The account is at Pecos County State Bank.  The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the staff at Pecos County Home Health and Pecos County Memorial Hospital for taking great care of Beth the last few months.
