Eduardo Esteban Gomez Vela
August 19, 2009 - June 29, 2025
With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved son, grandson, brother, and friend, Eduardo Esteban Gomez Vela, lovingly known as Eddie and affectionately called "Dino" by his mom. Born on August 19, 2009, Eddie's gentle spirit left a lasting mark on everyone who knew and loved him.
Eddie was a proud member of the varsity cross-country team, where his passion for running truly shined. He also enjoyed participating in powerlifting, football, and baseball. Beyond athletics, Eddie was known for his kind and polite nature, his selfless heart, and his fun, goofy personality that could bring joy to any room.
He was the best big brother anyone could ask for - selfless, protective, and always putting others before himself. A hard worker with a determined spirit, Eddie gave his all to every goal he set. His quiet faith in Jesus was sincere and strong. He was always eager to learn more, listen deeply, and left a lasting impression on everyone through the way he lived and believed.
He deeply loved his family. He is survived by his mother, Clara Rubio, and stepfather, Santos Rubio; his father, Jeremiah Vela, and stepmother, Mirella Gomez. He was the cherished grandson of Maria Gomez, Maggie Hernandez, Bobby Hernandez, and Roy Vela, and the beloved great-grandson of his paternal great-grandparents, who continue to hold his memory close.
Eddie shared an unbreakable bond with his siblings: Jeremiah, Siennah, Isabella, Adriana, and Zachary, all of whom he adored beyond measure. He is also remembered with love by his many aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins, as well as countless friends whose lives were brighter because of him.
Eddie had a special love for his dog Lady, and he was especially close to his recently departed Grandpa Julio Gomez, who was his very best friend.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Julio Gomez, and his uncle, Guillermo "Willie" Gomez, both of whom he loved dearly.
Eddie's light, kindness, and laughter will never be forgotten. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact of his life will forever remain in our hearts.
"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day... unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and forever dear."
