Charles "Charlie" Davis passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in Fort Stockton, Texas. Charles was born on July 22, 1925, in Balmorhea, Texas to John T. "Curley" Davis and Barbara Clingman Davis.
He graduated from Alpine High School, attended Schreiner Institute as an athlete and joined the United States Navy in 1944. After returning from the Pacific, Charlie played baseball for the Alpine Cowboys for 6 years. Charlie worked for the Highway Department and retired in 1985 with 30 years of service. Charlie was a big kid all his life and enjoyed his toys, his trains, his "Alf" room, and collecting antiques.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jiggs Davis, and his sister LaVerne Bryant.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sixie Davis, son David Davis and wife Susan, of Richmond, Texas, son Charles M. Davis Jr. "Chuck" of Fort Stockton; grandchildren Cody Davis and wife Kelly, and Jessica Davis of Rosenberg Texas; great grandchildren Aubrey, Hayes, and Hadley.
Visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Heritage Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, June 5th at 10a.m. at First United Methodist Church with burial at East Hill Cemetery.
