Charles Bowles

Charles R. (Chuck) Bowles passes away at 10:45pm, August 16, 2018 at GCRMC in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was born in St. Clairsville, Ohio, November 27,1930 to parents; Charles L. and Ruth B. Bowles, graduated from St. Clairsville High Schol in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army 101 Airborne Company B from Berckenridge, KY, during the Korean Conflict. In 1954, he moved to Fort Stockton, TX, from Akron, OH. He was employed by Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for 40 years. Named assistant manager of the Tire Testing Center west of Fort Stockton, then manager after retirement of R.C. Vannoy of Fort Stockton. In 1986, he became manager of tire testing track in Cd. Acuna, Mexico for nine years before retirement and lived in Del Rio, TX. A member of the Presbyterian Church, where he was a deacon and elder. He was involved in many civic organizations, including; Lions Club, FFA Adult Sponsor, Boy Scouts, Fraternal Order of Eagles, VFW, and American Legion. He married Margaret Lannom of Fort Stockton, July 14, 1956, they had just celebrated 62 years of marriage. Parents of two sons; Richard Bowles (Chris) and Steven Bowles (Monique), a grandson; Chet Bowles (Karah), and great-grandson; Camden Bowles, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister; Jean Walker of OH, a brother; Jim Bowles of FL. A memorial service will be at the First Presbyterian Church of Alamogordo at 10:30 September 12, 2018. A graveside service will be held in Fort Stockton, TX at 10:30 September 20, 2018.
